Karen L. Bellin, MDiv, ThM., Chaplain (Captain), U.S. Army, Retired, was born in Silver Spring, Maryland. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Literature from Loyola University, Baltimore, Maryland, and Masters of Divinity and Theology from Princeton Theological Seminary, Princeton, New Jersey. She was ordained a Presbyterian minister September 1989. She served as a Presbyterian pastor in Bronx, New York and chaplain in the United States Army until she retired in 2011. Chaplain Bellin’s military education includes the United States Army Chaplain Officer Basic and Chaplain Career Courses, Clinical Pastoral Education Advanced Program, Brooke Army Medical Center, FT Sam Houston, Texas, and Health Care Ethics for the Hospital Chaplain, University of Washington, Seattle, Washington. Her awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal (4 awards), National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and the Overseas Service Ribbon. She published her first book, Hispanic Ministry in a Medical Setting, songs with Hill Top Records, and a photo in Hidden Silhouettes. She, her husband, and their dog live in Schertz, Texas.
